Apophatic Theology
Allah, there is nothing but Himself, the One Being, the One, the One Who Stands Alone, There is No Entities Like Him
* This writing is a personal conclusion after following tawhid studies.
There is no positive sentence that can define Allah, so every definition made is might be wrong, if it contains truth it is given by Allah Himself. Definition by human
Therefore some scholars use apophatic theology (using negative sentences) to get to know God better. Knowing Allah in the term Sufism is defined as Makreefaah.
1. There is no god (anything that has the potential to become a god) other than Allah.
2. Childless, and not born.
3. There is nothing that resembles Allah.etc ...
are examples of negative sentences that make it easier for the mind to know Allah, where positive sentences are unable to represent it, as is the nature of Allah Almighty / no limit. This understanding is so called Tawheed.
The challenge to understanding tawheed is different from fiqh (syariah Law). Whereas. the rules of fiqh are defined, absolute, firmly wrong / right, lawful / haram. Therefore, to learn tawheed you must not use a single definition. Because to know Allah cannot use a single definition, it is Allah Himself , who will introduce to His servants in the form of understanding, which also not writeable. All people may claim to know God after reading literature, that's fine. But somehow it will content some mistakes. In the other hand it is not 100% mistakes, the correct part is also given. But the truth is that it's up to Him, to whom He wants to introduce Himself. When someone defines gravity, then the majority of people on earth are sure about the existence of gravity, even though it is invinsible. However, when we define Allah, there will be many debates arise. Thus, Allah the creator, no such words can define it, because He is Allah Who introduced Himself to humans. "Allah will not be known from the literature, because Allah is the One who introduced Himself to His servants". To close definition of Allah, can be done with Asmaul Husna (the 99 Name of Allah), His Attributes.
When we meet the question how is Allah? where is Allah? inside, the most appropriate answer is:
-Allah is the One who with all His attributes is represented by Asmaul Husna (See Asmaul Husna, 20 Attributes of Allah) when the brain forces him to ask for more or ask for more, say: Subhanallah (Glory to Allah from all those I presume).
-Allah exists but does not need a place, because place is Allah's creation, when the brain forces it again it immediately says "Your brain is not designed to define Allah. Purify all your efforts of your mind to reach Allah's Substance by say "Subhanallah". The nature of thougt is finding an answer, but when there is do not cross the prohibited signs then say "Glory to Allah from all the things that I presume"
- All the assumptions / imaginations of creatures about Allah are always wrong, except those that Allah Himself gives to His servants. This is called makrifat. If there is a human being who feels that he knows God as the definition of the text is, and he feels that he is satisfied with the definition of the text, that person is both right and wrong. It is true because the text is the word of God, wrong because the process of knowing Allah has no end to the grave, because attribute of Allah is eternal, infinite and cannot be limited by anything, let alone the text. Then the person who understands this will read a lot of "Subhanallah". Glory to Allah from everything I presume.
So all of these problems can be slightly facilitated by negative theology. This negative theology is closely related to the rules in Sufism: "Man 'arafa nafsahu, faqad' arafa rabbahu", "who knows himself, then knows his God"
Creatures is born / created, so Allah was not created
Creatures is defect/die, then Allah is Mighty/ Ever Living
Creatures are weak, Allah is strong, supremely strong
Creatures need this, Allah is all rich
Vengeful beings, Allah is Forgiving
Creatures need a partner, Allah stands Alone
Human are foolish, Allah knows everything. We must aware of it, then we will never stop doing dhikr. Because this is the greatest meaning of all events in life. Every tragedies, difficulties, amusement, richness. All events bring us to Allah (makreefat).
The greatest danger behind the fulfillment of desires is: SYRIK
Just like Pharaoh, Qorun, who was bestowed by Allah, they given wealth, power, health, never got into trouble, which in the end denied Allah's power. Where in him feels that all the pleasures and achievement in life are their efforts.
This is a little explanation why when we recognize our weaknesses we actually already have the key to know Allah further. Almost all of us are in weakness as creatures but we don't use this key to know Allah at all. Instead we are busy using the makreefaah key to open the door of the world, yes, of course it doesn't open ...
The more we observe ourselves and see its deficiencies, the behind all the shortcomings there is Him, Allah, the Noble, Great, Powerful Substance and does not have any defects / deficiencies ... this is a hint ... the sentence "Man 'arafa nafsahu, faqad' arafa rabbahu ". .... Wallahua'lam
Atheistic doesnt want to go further when they stuck to find answer. When they face question, who creates universe. They don't want to ask the one supreme entity. They just stop. They should yell..."Hi there whoever you are who claim as creator, Lord of universe, show me the way to you....., they should repeat this all the time. It has mentioned above, every time we stuck, we get a key to know Allah the One Supreme God. What we need only request Him to show the way.
